Sound Contaminations

I directed the music video "Mani Libere - Vicino a Marina," featuring the music of Corrado Carosio and Pierangelo Fornaro. The filming took place in 2023 inside the abandoned Teatro Comunale di Alessandria, where my aim was to craft an environment of profound evocation.

Video, photo and words: Lorenzo Morandi

Corrado Carosio and Pierangelo Fornaro form a duo of musicians and composers, seamlessly blending traditional arrangements with innovative electronic techniques. Their creative process unfolds as a harmonious interplay between analog and digital realms: handwritten notes on printed staffs coalesce with compositions crafted directly on the tablet screen. Synthesisers and mixers coexist alongside an array of acoustic instruments. Computers and monitors extend their capabilities, providing precise control over recorded sounds and samples.

Operating from their state-of-the-art studio, Bottega del Suono, Carosio and Fornaro craft captivating soundscapes for a diverse range of projects, advertising commercials, feature and short films, television series, and theatrical performances. Their involvement spans the entire creative process, from composition and pre-production to recording, editing, surround mixing, and mastering. Situated in Alessandria, their studio occupies the ground floor of a historic balcony house in the city center, serving as the nexus where tradition and innovation converge.
